The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) on a recent Monday took a heartwarming initiative by distributing a sum of Rs 28.5 lakh to 114 deserving undergraduate students as part of the SKUAST-K Endowment Fund scholarship program.

This noble fund was established in May of the same year with the primary objective of providing financial assistance to students who are facing economic challenges.

The SKUAST-K Endowment Fund received support from a variety of sources, including the university's faculty, staff, dedicated alumni, and several philanthropic organizations. This collective effort underscores the commitment of the entire community to the cause of higher education.

The Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, played a pivotal role in the creation of the Endowment Fund and took the opportunity to hand over a cheque of Rs 28.5 lakh to the Manager of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank at the SKUAST-K Shalimar Branch. Subsequently, the amount was electronically transferred to the deserving students.

Prof Ganai expressed that the fundamental purpose of this fund is to support students on their journey towards a brighter and more promising future. He emphasized that education is a fundamental right and should be accessible to every individual, regardless of their financial circumstances.

During the event, the Director of Education, Prof MAA Siddique, highlighted SKUAST-K's longstanding commitment to supporting students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. The university firmly believes that economic constraints should never hinder a student's pursuit of education. This initiative serves as a testament to SKUAST-K's dedication to its students and its continuous efforts to maintain an inclusive learning environment.

Each recipient of the scholarship was granted a financial aid package, alleviating the financial burden associated with their academic aspirations.

This remarkable initiative by SKUAST-K exemplifies the spirit of communal support and the unwavering belief that education should be within reach for all aspiring minds.
