The Importance of UN SDGs for Doubling Farmers Income

As the MDGs era came to a conclusion with the end of the year 2015, 2016 ushered in the official launch of the bold and transformative 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by world leaders in September 2015 at the United Nations.

As part of the Facebook Live Series in Agriculture World, we have with us on Thursday, 4 PM IST Mr. Vipin Saini will talk on The Importance of UN SDGs for Doubling Farmers Income. As the MDGs era came to a conclusion with the end of the year 2015, 2016 ushered in the official launch of the bold and transformative 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by world leaders in September 2015 at the United Nations.

The new Agenda calls on countries to begin efforts to achieve 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 within a period of 15 years from its launch. “The seventeen Sustainable Development Goals are a shared vision of humanity and a social contract between the world's leaders and the people. They are essentially a to-do list for people and planet, and a blueprint towards success.

Vipin Saini’s talk will emphasize on the importance of understanding these SDGs in the context to doubling the farmer’s income, with prime focus on the most relevant SDGs. The MDGs & the present SDGs may be considered indicators towards achieving India’s ambition to help its farming community by looking into the strategies that need be adapted to achieve and attain a better financial status for all the efforts they place in, just to feed us.

Mr. Vipin Saini is a M.Sc. Zoology (Entomology), and LLM (Pro) in Intellectual Property. He is a Regulatory Affairs Specialist, Educationalist, Environmentalist, Toxicologist, Data analyst, Writer & Publisher, Historian, Philanthropist and Humanitarian, with a combined experience of >25 years’ in the field of biosciences and related regulatory aspects related to National and International norms, Policy framing, Market Research, Business Intelligence, and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Mr. Saini is the CEO - Biological Agri Solutions Association of India (BASAI), and the Founder Trustee of Sunrakshan Foundation (A Family Trust).  A member of various government department committees/ sub-committees and Industry associations.

Currently, actively involved in taking forward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and the recommendations of the Doubling of Farmer’s Income Report issued by DAC&FW.
