Telangana's government has announced the disbursement of financial assistance to 27 lakh farmers as part of the ongoing Rythu Bandhu scheme. The decision was unveiled on Saturday, January 6, marking a substantial step towards supporting the agricultural community in the state.

At present, approximately 40 percent of farmers have already received aid through the Rythu Bandhu initiative, which aims to alleviate financial pressures and enhance agricultural productivity. The scheme primarily focuses on assisting farmers with their initial investment requirements to break the cycle of rural indebtedness.

During a media address, officials highlighted the ongoing sowing activities for paddy and Yasangi crops across the state. Emphasizing the scheme's significance, they indicated that the disbursement process would accelerate, with a significant number of additional farmers expected to be included starting the following Monday.

Rythu Bandhu scheme

The Rythu Bandhu scheme, initiated in 2018-19 with a budget of Rs. 12,000 Crores, aims to provide investment support for agriculture and horticulture crops. Each farmer receives Rs. 5,000 per acre per season to procure essential inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, labor, and other field operation investments.

Agriculture has been underscored as the government's top priority, and the scheme's implementation seeks to prevent farmers from succumbing to debt burdens. The process of crediting the financial aid commenced on December 11, signaling the government's commitment to supporting farmers in their crucial agricultural activities.

The Rythu Bandhu scheme stands as a testament to the government's dedication to fostering sustainable agricultural practices and ensuring the economic well-being of the farming community in Telangana.
