Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Parshottam Rupala, embarked on the momentous journey of Sagar Parikrama Phase X on October 13, 2023. This initiative seeks to strengthen the ties between the central government and the coastal communities of Andhra Pradesh, with a particular focus on the fisheries sector.

The Union Minister's journey commenced as he boarded a coast guard ship from Chennai to Andhra Pradesh. The primary objective of this expedition is to engage with fishers and stakeholders in the region, gaining insights into their concerns and seeking their valuable suggestions. Additionally, Minister Rupala aims to inform the local fishing communities about various government schemes designed to enhance their livelihoods.

During his interactions, Parshottam Rupala will educate the fishers about government initiatives, such as the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF), and the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme. Distributing certificates and sanctions related to these schemes will also be a pivotal part of this endeavor.

To ensure the success of this significant event, several dignitaries will accompany the Union Minister on October 14, 2023. Krishnapatnam and Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh will play host to these gatherings. The occasion will see the participation of officials from the Department of Fisheries, Government of Andhra Pradesh, as well as senior officials from the Department of Fisheries, Government of India.

National Fisheries Development Board, Indian Coast Guard, Fishery Survey of India, National Institute of Fisheries Post Harvest Technology and Training, and Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical & Engineering Training will also be actively involved in these events.

One of the key highlights of this initiative is the issuance of Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) to fishers and fish farmers. Camps organized by officials in Nellore District will facilitate this process, allowing the beneficiaries to access financial resources that can help enhance their activities in the fisheries sector.

Fishers, fishermen representatives, fish farmers, entrepreneurs, fishermen cooperative society leaders, professionals, scientists, and other concerned parties will participate in the interactions and events held in Krishnapatnam and Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to the welfare and development of India's coastal communities and the fisheries sector.
