Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Officially Takes Charge of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assumed the role of Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on June 11, 2024. In his address to the media, Chouhan expressed satisfaction with the Prime Minister's initial decision, emphasizing its positive impact on farmers. He reiterated the government's commitment to doubling farmers' income and ensuring their welfare, affirming the Ministry's dedication to this cause over the past decade and its ongoing efforts to achieve these objectives.

After assuming charge, the Minister visited various offices within the Ministry, engaging with staff at all levels, including cleanliness workers. He urged everyone to collaborate as a team to fulfill the government's vision for farmers' welfare.

Additionally, he visited the Krishi Integrated Command and Control Center, where he reviewed facilities for monitoring the agriculture scenario in the country, including crop production and drought preparedness.

Later, he held a meeting with senior ministry officials, emphasizing the need for transparency in their operations. He distributed the government manifesto focused on the welfare of farmers and rural development, urging everyone to strive towards its implementation.

Chouhan praised PM Narendra Modi as a visionary leader and urged officials to develop a roadmap to achieve the goals outlined in the manifesto, stating that the ministry's mission should be to improve the lives of farmers, the Annadata.

Ramnath Thakur and Bhagirath Choudhary also took charge as Ministers of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The Ministers were welcomed by Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ welfare Manoj Ahuja, Secretary, DARE Himanshu Pathak and other senior officials of the Ministry.
