UP Free Laptop Yojana: Government Preparing List for Distribution of Tablets, Smartphones

UP Free Laptop Yojana Registration 2021: Yogi Government is going to distribute smartphones and tablets to over 68 lakh students this month. Many students have applied for free laptops & smartphones and are eagerly waiting to receive theirs’. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the officials that the list should be prepared for this soon. 

The Chief Minister, in a meeting, asked the officials to prepare a list of children to whom smartphones and tablets are to be distributed so that the process of distribution of smartphones and tablets can be started by the end of November.  

If sources are to be believed, the distribution of tablets or smartphones will be done after the data of eligible students is fed on the portal. This major purchase will be done through GeM portal only. In view of the elections, the government is trying to complete the process before the code of conduct for elections comes into force.  

Who Will Get Free Laptop/ Tablet? 

Apart from students, other people like Plumbers, carpenters, Nurse, Electricians, AC Mechanic, etc. will also be given tablets/smartphones so that they can earn their living by providing better services to the citizens.  

In the proposed beneficiary category under the scheme, youth of other classes will also be included from time to time with the approval of the Chief Minister. The decision of which beneficiary group is to be provided tablets and to whom smart phones are to be given, will be decided at the level of the Chief Minister.  

Selection Process: 

For the selection of eligible candidates under the free laptop & smartphones scheme, the Yogi government will form a committee headed by the District Magistrate in every district, in which there will be six members who will prepare a list of identified educational institutions. He said that these smartphones or tablets will be purchased only through the GeM portal. GeM portal will be the nodal agency.
