We Have Lots of Plans for the Agriculture Sector: Dr. Himanshu Pathak on His First Day as DG, ICAR

Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary DARE cum DG-ICAR in the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare assumed his position at ICAR, Pusa, New Delhi today. Upon taking on his new role today, Dr Pathak met with the Krishi Jagran team including Krishi Jagran Founder and Editor-in-Chief, M C Dominic with Director Shiny Dominic at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Pant COO, P.S. Saini Sr VP, Corp Comm., and PR, Pankaj Khanna, Head Content, Megha Sharma, GM, Marketing, and Jyoti Sharma, Sr. Journalist.

Talking about his plans for the agriculture sector, the senior scientist and the winner of some of the most prestigious awards said, “Things will move ahead as they were. We have lots of plans for the agriculture sector. We will share them soon.”

Previously appointed as the Director of the ICAR- National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management in Baramati, Maharashtra, Dr. Pathak’s new role was authorized by the Cabinet’s Appointment Committee.

Dr. Pathak has a vast portfolio which reflects in his work. He earned his Ph.D. in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi, India.

And later, he received his MSc in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi. He also completed a BSc in Agriculture at the Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi.

He has been rewarded with numerous honors, including the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) Young Scientist Award, the Indian Society of Soil Science Golden Jubilee Commemoration Young Scientist Award, and the ISCA Dr. B.C. Deb Memorial Award, the IRRI Outstanding Administrative Support Award, the ISCA President, Agriculture, and Forestry Sciences Section, and many others.
