Weather Alert: IMD Warns of Heavy Rainfall in These States from Today, Cold Wave Condition to Begin from Dec 4
In view of the cyclonic storm, India Meteorological Department has issued a Red / Orange alert that has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamitta, Alappuzha and Idukki.
An alert has been issued from the Meteorological Department's Chennai office that the low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal will change to 'Deep Depression' in the next 24 hours which will turn into a severe cyclonic storm.
Due to the effect of this cyclonic storm, there will be heavy rainfall in South Kerala on December 3, as well as heavy rain in southern Kerala on December 1 and 4. In view of the cyclonic storm, India Meteorological Department has issued a Red / Orange alert that has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamitta, Alappuzha and Idukki.
These Places Likely to Get Heavy Rainfall from Today
I) Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with isolated Extremely heavy falls very likely over south Tamilnadu (Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Ramanathapuram and Sivaganga) on 2nd and 3rd December 2020; south Kerala (Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzah) on 3rd December and Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over south Tamil Nadu on 1st & 4th December and south Kerala on 2nd & 4th December, 2020.
ii) Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and north Kerala& Mahe during 2nd and 3rd December 2020 and isolated heavy rainfall on 1st and 4th December, 2020.
iii) Heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over south Coastal Andhra Pradesh during 2nd & 03rd December and over Lakshadweep during 03rd and 4th December, 2020.
Fishermen are advised not to venture
Fishermen out at Sea are advised to return to the coast by today. Fishermen are advised not to venture into southeast Bay of Bengal from 30th Nov to 1st Dec, southwest Bay of Bengal & along & off east Sri Lanka coast from 1st to 3rd December; Comorin Area, Gulf of Mannar and south Tamilnadu-Kerala coasts from 2nd to 4th December, over Lakshadweep-Maldives area & adjoining southeast Arabian Sea from 3rd to 4th December. Total suspension of fishing
operation during 30th November to 4th December over the areas.
