India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted shift in the weather across several parts of the country. Rain, snow, and thunderstorms are expected in some regions, while temperatures are set to drop in others. Dense fog will continue to affect many areas, causing reduced visibility during the morning and night hours. Here’s a quick look at what to expect in the coming days.

Weather Systems and Rainfall Predictions

Western Disturbance and Cyclonic Circulations:

1. Western Himalayan Region and Nearby Areas:

    • A Western Disturbance is currently observed as a cyclonic circulation over northern Pakistan and adjoining areas. It extends to the middle and upper tropospheric levels along Long. 71°E to the north of Lat. 30°N.

    • Under its influence, isolated rainfall/snowfall is expected in the Western Himalayan Region, while isolated rainfall is likely in West Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan on 24rd January 2025.

2. Northeast India:

  • A cyclonic circulation over East Bangladesh and its vicinity will lead to thunderstorm activity in isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh and northeast Assam on 24th January 2025.

Temperature Forecast

  • Northwest India: A gradual drop of 2-4°C in minimum temperatures is predicted over the next three days, followed by stabilization.

  • Central India: No significant change in temperatures over the next 24 hours, followed by a 2-3°C decline.

  • East India: Minimum temperatures will remain stable for the next 48 hours, with a 2-4°C decline thereafter.

  • No significant temperature variations are expected in other parts of the country.

Cold Wave Warnings

  • Himachal Pradesh: Isolated regions may experience cold wave conditions on 24th January.
