Weather Update: Delhi Set for Mostly Cloudy Conditions, IMD Predicts Weather Conditions Across India

IMD forecasts varied weather across India, including scattered rainfall and thunderstorms in eastern and central regions, while the Western Himalayan region braces for isolated snowfall.

Today's weather in Delhi promises mild temperatures, with a high of 31°C and a low of 16°C. Expect mostly cloudy skies throughout the day, with minimal chances of precipitation.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued detailed forecasts and warnings for various regions across the country.

IMD's Regional Forecast: Eastern and Central India

In this region, states like Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and East Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience scattered to fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Hailstorms and squalls are expected in Gangetic West Bengal on the 19th of March, while isolated heavy rainfall is forecasted for Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand on the same day.

IMD's Regional Forecast: Northeastern and Southern India

States like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may witness scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning. Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam could experience similar weather patterns, with isolated heavy rainfall expected in specific areas.

IMD's Regional Forecast: Western Himalayan Region

The Western Himalayan Region is also under the IMD's watch, as a fresh feeble Western Disturbance is expected to affect the region from the 18th of March onwards. This disturbance could result in isolated/scattered light rainfall/snowfall over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on specific dates.

IMD's Regional Forecast: Maximum Temperature Forecast

Looking ahead at the maximum temperature forecast for the next 5 days, most parts of the country are expected to see temperatures below normal by 2-3°C. However, regions like Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Northeast and south Peninsular India might experience temperatures near normal.

Certain areas like Kerala and Mahe, Rayalaseema, and parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to experience hot and humid weather in the coming days. Meanwhile, Northwest India and Gujarat could witness a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-4°C, while Central East India might see a fall in temperatures by 2-3°C. East India may experience no significant changes in maximum temperatures initially, followed by a subsequent fall by 2-4°C. The rest of the country is expected to see stable maximum temperatures over the next 5 days.
