Heavy Rainfall throughout India

On Thursday, June 23, 2022, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the Southwest Monsoon will likely arrive on July 6 rather than the expected date of July 8.

The Northern Limit of the Monsoon (NLM) is still now passing through Churk in Uttar Pradesh, Shivpuri and Rewa in Madhya Pradesh, Porbandar, and Vadodara in Gujarat.

The rest of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, all of Bihar, and certain areas of northwest India are anticipated to get southwest monsoon rain by the end of the week, according to a statement from IMD.

Rainfall/thunderstorm Forecast & Warnings:

Beginning on June 27, 2022, rainfall activity across Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh is projected to intensify due to the arrival of lower-level easterlies.

Over Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, mild to moderate rainfall is predicted on June 27 and 28.

Widespread rainfall with thunderstorms/lightning is very likely over Karnataka, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Kerala & Mahe, and Lakshadweep over the next five days due to the off-shore trough, a middle-level cyclonic circulation over East-central Arabian Sea off the coast of Maharashtra, and strong westerly winds along the west coast in lower tropospheric levels.

There may be isolated, heavy rain in South Gujarat State till June 27, as well as in Madhya Maharashtra's ghat regions through June 26, North Interior Karnataka today, and South Interior Karnataka for two days starting today.

Widespread rainfall is extremely possible throughout Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim over the next five days due to the effect of southerly/south-westerly winds from the Bay of Bengal to the northeast and adjoining East India.

Over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura for the next five days, there is a chance of isolated heavy rains.

Over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal from June 26 to June 28, as well as over Arunachal Pradesh on June 27 and 28, isolated severe to very heavy rainfall is also possible.
