The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a significant weather update as the Northeast Monsoon officially commences over Southeast Peninsular India. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted across multiple regions, signaling a shift in the weather pattern.

Low Pressure Over Bay of Bengal: A well-marked low-pressure area persists over the central part of the south Bay of Bengal and is expected to intensify into a depression within the next 24 hours. It will likely move towards North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and South Andhra Pradesh.

Depression Near Oman Coast: The depression over the Arabian Sea, near Oman, is expected to weaken into a low-pressure area.

Cyclonic Circulation: A cyclonic circulation is present over the West Central Bay of Bengal near Andhra Pradesh.

West India: Scattered light to moderate rainfall will occur in Konkan & Goa. Dry weather will prevail over Saurashtra and Kutch from 17th to 21st October.
