Aadhaar, India's most important identity document, recently announced a new feature that will provide relief to millions of its registered users. The Aadhaar contains important information about citizens, such as their complete name, permanent residence, and date of birth, all of which are linked to a unique 12-digit number issued by the UIDAI.

The Aadhaar is an important document because it is used as an identification verification in a wide range of sectors. There are two types of Aadhaar cards: one for adults and one for children, known as the 'Baal Aadhaar.' A newborn child's parents can also apply for Baal Aadhaar. To register for a Blue Aadhaar card, follow the instructions described below:

What is Blue Aadhaar Card?

According to UIDAI, the kid's birth certificate and the Aadhaar card number of one of the parents are required to enroll a child under the age of five for the Blue Aadhaar card.

A child's blue-colored Aadhaar data does not include biometric information like fingerprints or iris scans because biometrics was not developed for children under the age of five. According to a UIDAI representative, biometrics should be updated once a child reaches the age of five.

For children under the age of five, the Blue Aadhar Card will also include a 12-digit number. Once the child reaches the age of five, it is no longer valid.

How to Apply for Blue Aadhaar Card?

  1. Collect all necessary documents, such as the child's address proof and birth certificate, before going to the nearest Aadhar card enrolment center.
