Yellow Alert! IMD Predicts Severe Heatwaves for Delhi & These Northwestern States for Next Few Days
In response to rising temperatures, the IMD has issued a yellow warning in Delhi for three days, until April 20. In some states, the heatwave is expected to continue. Find the details here.
Weather News: Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan are suffering extreme heat during the day as the temperature in several Indian states rises. Heatwave conditions are brewing in Delhi again, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Yellow alert till 20 April
However, there will be no break from the heat until April 18. The minimum temperature in Delhi on Sunday was 27 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was 41 degrees Celsius. The IMD has also issued a three-day yellow notice, which will last until Wednesday (April 20). Temperatures as high as 43 degrees have been reported these days.
Heatwaves are possible in isolated regions of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi over the next 24 hours, according to Skymet Weather.
It was raining in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, at the same time, providing much-needed relief from the growing heat.
Strong storm in Assam
On the other hand, while a strong storm accompanied by heavy downpours hit Assam, at least eight people, including two minors, were killed in separate cases of lightning strikes. The 'Bordoisila,' as such summer storms and rains are known, has lashed several districts of Assam since Thursday, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
In addition, Skymet Weather predicts that mild to moderate rain may fall in isolated areas across Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh today.
Over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and parts of South Karnataka, light to moderate rain may fall in one or two places. Scattered thunderstorms and light rain are possible in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
