Youths Engaged in Agriculture Finding It Difficult To Find Brides

Mysore: According to Mandya Nehru Yuva Kendra Accounts Officer Basavaraj, many agricultural youths are finding it difficult to find brides since their parents are reluctant to have a marital alliance with agriculturists for their daughters. 

On Sunday, he spoke at Mysore Grahakara Parishat's (MGP) monthly awareness-cum-interaction programme on the 'Role of Consumer Youth Clubs in Nation-Building' at Yadavagiri. 

Pointing out that it is Nehru Yuva Kendra's responsibility to engage youngsters from both sexes in nation-building, Basavaraj stated that youths might organize men's and women's associations and get registered with Nehru Yuva Kendra. 

Noting that the Kendra delivers skill training for youths, he stated that after receiving training, youths may become self-employed. 

He bemoaned the disappearance of the notion of joint family, claiming that our older generations were more knowledgeable even though they were less educated and turned to farming. 

Expressing concern that agriculture is being progressively neglected by the present generation, he said that youths from Mandya, who were more interested in farming, are now turning away from it. 

Expressing concern that youth is becoming depressed as a result of their inability to find suitable jobs and brides, he stated that it is past time for intellectuals and activists to take the matter seriously. 

Observing that the farming sector is facing a crisis in the country, he said that everyone should remember that we cannot have food if farming is stopped. 

MGP President Shivamurthy, S.V. Manjunath and others attended the programme. 

Noting that society must take steps to guarantee that youngsters working in agriculture and servicemen defending the country's borders are treated with respect, he urged the youth community to make good use of government programs aimed at instilling a patriotic spirit. 

He also praised the Parishat for bringing up consumer issues whenever customers feel duped.
