Earlier he used to grow wheat and paddy which is a common cropping pattern in Punjab but as the cost-benefit ratio was too low in wheat and paddy. He got inspired by a few laborers working in his field who used to bring bees for cultivation from Himanchal.
He opted for the training of apiculture from nearby KVK and then started bee cultivation with 1 box and slowly got business and expanded. After 4 years of working in apiculture, his brand got associated with an FPO in 2007. Today, besides selling honey and other products of apiculture, he also gives training to the farmers.
