Successful farming demands hard work, innovative techniques, and proper crop care. Patience and perseverance are equally crucial for a farmer. Continuous efforts lead to success in farming, a fact exemplified by Rajasthan's, Santosh Kumar Swami. A lawyer by profession, Swami earns lakhs annually cultivating various crops such as white peanuts, ashwagandha, lemons, guavas, mustard, and black wheat using organic methods.

Encouragement from Wife for Farming

Santosh Kumar Swami shared that he resides in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur district and solely practices organic farming. Besides being a farmer, Swami is also a lawyer. Over the past seven years, he has cultivated various medicinal plants and fruits, supported by his wife, an officer in the agriculture department. She encouraged him to pursue farming, despite initially being posted in Sawai Madhopur, later transferring to Jaipur.

Cultivating on 100 Acres of Land

Initially, Santosh practiced farming during his free time, gradually intensifying his focus on agriculture over his legal practice. He possesses around 100 acres of arable land, dedicating nearly 30 acres to organic farming. He cultivates crops like mustard, wheat, chickpeas, guavas, strawberries, safed musli, and dragon fruit using organic techniques and sells his produce through various channels, including social media.

Fighting Misrepresentation of Organic Products

Supplying his organic fruits to prominent malls and shops in Jaipur, Santosh adapts his production according to demand to avoid wastage. He exports his produce overseas as well. Despite a market flooded with misrepresented organic products, Santosh ensures his crops are free from pesticides and insecticides.

Earning from Farming and Cattle

With nine cows, Swami engages in organic farming through the use of dung and urine. Initially, the expenses for organic farming were high, but he gradually balanced his costs through medicinal plants, earning significant profits. He manages to make an annual income of 18 to 19 lakhs, with an expense of 5 to 6 lakhs, earning a profit of 12 to 13 lakhs.

Encouraging Youth Towards Farming

Besides his farm, Santosh runs an educational institute named 'Apurva Organic Agriculture Farm,' educating farmers about medicinal plants and organic farming. He encourages youth through our platform to explore farming opportunities, emphasizing that after education, farming can also be a lucrative career, fostering smarter techniques for higher profits.
