Talking about potato, this time because of gum disease and potato melting, the yield is expected to be 30 to 40 percent less than last year. Farmers are worried as the expenditure for this crop is very high and potato is not getting good price at this time. At the same time, it is likely to take about 20 more days for wheat crop to ripe. However, early signs of wheat are said to be good.

According to farmers, Vineet Sharma and Jagdish Kushwaha, the potato crop this year will not give good yield as most farmers lack agricultural equipment and resources. They had to do sowing, plowing, and digging by hiring some people. And a lot of money has been spent on fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides.

Moreover dense fog and froze gripped potato crop. Because of this, diseases like stem rot attack potato crop. Despite decreased yields, new potato has already arrived in the mandis and they are getting only Rs. 7 to 10 per kg prices, which is very low. Farmers have spent a lot of money on stocking in cold storage.
