Here is a good news for landless families. The state of Chattisgarh has started a new scheme - Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumihin Krishi Majdur Nyay Yojana, which would provide Rs 6,000 rupees each year to landless families  in the state. The scheme would begin in the fiscal year 2021-22, with a budget provision of Rs 200 crore incorporated in the supplementary budget passed by the legislative assembly on Wednesday.

Commenting regarding the initiative, CM Bhupesh Baghel said that as part of a series of Nyay schemes administered for farmers and cow-keepers, the government has opted to establish the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumihin Krishi Majdur Nyay Yojana for landless agricultural labourers in the state.

“In this year's supplementary budget, we have set a provision of 200 crore for this scheme,” Baghel added.

Families who do not own agricultural land and rely on agricultural labour or MGNREGA work for a living in rural areas will be paid a yearly stipend of 6,000 rupees under the scheme, he added.

Also barbers, dhobis, blacksmiths, and priests are among the rural populace who will be covered by the scheme.

According to Baghel, the Centre agreed to acquire 6 million metric tons of rice from the state but only bought 2.4 million MT, forcing the state administration to auction the leftover stock at a deficit.

“But still, we have been supporting farmers in every situation, including taking out loans,”he continued.

Throughout the first and second waves of the Covid-19 pandemic, a lack of certain amenities created a problem, but today the government is working to guarantee that improved healthcare facilities are available across the state, he stated, adding that the health department has allocated a provision of Rs 957 crore.
