Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar unveiled two new portals on Monday, one of which is for pesticide registration. Another site is for documents linked to agri-products and plant imports and exports.
In an event held in the Pusa complex, the minister unveiled the two portals CROP (Comprehensive Registration of Pesticides) and PQMS (Plant Quarantine Management System) with the goal of improving convenience of doing business.
Tomar, speaking at the event, said the two new portals were introduced to simplify the registration and documentation procedure for pesticides for export-import easy and transparent.
He emphasised that the government is dedicated to making system adjustments if necessary. Tomar emphasised the importance of the agriculture sector in the Indian economy and the necessity to enhance it.
He noted that the country is not only self-sufficient in foodgrain production but also has excess stockpiles, which he credits to the efforts of farmers, agricultural scientists' research, and the government's farmer-friendly policies.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the minister claimed that the country's foodgrain production and government procurement operations were unaffected.
To make India even stronger, he emphasised the need to develop the agriculture sector through government policies, research initiatives, a focus on quality, transparency, and ease of doing business.
He noted that the central government and state governments have made a number of initiatives to implement reforms, attract investment in the agricultural sector, and boost farmers' income through a stronger agri-marketing system.
Agriculture Secretary Manoj Ahuja said the two new portals were created to make doing business easier and to make procedures clear, fair, and transparent.
Few days back, Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare inaugurated the online training program for the master trainers on natural farming, which was organized by the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) in Hyderabad.
