Wheat Seeds Cost Increased by Rs.2 in Himachal; Subsidies Reduced

Farmers have already suffered a financial hit during the Corona period; they will be forced to confront more financial difficulties as the subsidy amount is decreased. In such a situation, most people have returned to farming, although farmers are frequently unable to purchase seeds due to high pricing.

Wheat seed producers in Himachal Pradesh will have to pay two rupees extra this year, as the subsidy has been decreased by two rupees. Farmers would be charged Rs.4 per kg of seed. This time, the price of wheat seed has been raised to Rs.33 per kg, with farmers having to purchase at Rs.20 per kg after an Rs.13 subsidy.

Last year, after receiving a subsidy of Rs.15, farmers purchased the seeds at Rs 18 per Kg. Farmers are suffered a lot financially during the Corona period, and they will be forced to go through similar situations if the subsidy amount is reduced.

Many people in Corona have lost their employment and are now sitting at home, unemployed. 

In such a situation, most people have returned to farming, although farmers are frequently unable to purchase seeds due to high pricing.

The seed subsidy amount has been cut this time. The wheat seed will cost Rs 3300 per quintal. At the same time, 1344 quintals of wheat seed have arrived at the Agriculture Department, with another 3730 quintals on the way.

The department has demanded a total of 5060 quintals of wheat. There are a total of 76,140 farmers in the district and wheat is grown on 35 thousand hectares of land.

At the same time, Dr. PC Saini, Deputy Director, Agriculture Department said that the price of wheat seeds has been fixed. This time farmers will get seed at the rate of Rs.20 per kg and subsidy amount will be given at Rs.13.
