Summer Crop Cultivation: Best Crops to Grow Between March to May

Nearly 60% of the population in the nation is occupied by agribusiness. Agriculture as a whole comprises various businesses connected to one another. Sericulture, grain crop cultivation, fruit and vegetable production, fruit, oil seed, milk production, peaches, peaches, poultry, ruminant breeding etc.

The planting time for the year is decided based on the crops to be cultivated, climatic conditions and seasons. The crops are divided into three groups according to the season namely Khariff, Rabi and Zaid or Summer Crops.

Zaid or Summer Crops:

- Zaid plants are cultivated between the months of March and June. This season primarily cultivated hybrid crops.

- All the yields require to be feeded with a water system.

- This season mainly cultivated vegetables and hybrid cereals.

- Crops under this season crave for dry climatic conditions for good vegetative growth. Also with regards to reproductive growth, it requires a longer day’s time.

- The cultivation duration can be shorter of longer.

- Crops include Hybrid bhindi, Hybrid Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Watermelons, Muskmelons, Moong dal, Bitter gourd, Pumpkin and Hybrid Brinjal.

Other crop types include:

Khariff crops:

- The cultivation of Khariff crops begins in June and the harvest begins in September till October.

- Monsoon rain is synchronised with the Khariff crops.

- Crops include Jowar, Paddy, Maize, Ragi, Bajra, Groundnut, Cotton, Pulses, Sugarcane and Turmeric,

Rabi crops:

- Rabi crops are developed in October till December and will be collected by march till May.

- Crops include Pea, Wheat, Barley, Oats, Oil seeds, Potato and Onion.
