Winter is that time of the year when your houseplants rest for the remaining part of the year. Planning houseplants for winter includes making some straightforward however significant changes in their consideration and care. Preparing plants includes shielding them from temperature be it high or low, indoor dry air, and low intensity light. Read through the rest of the article and figure out how to get your indoor plants ready for winter.

Tips and Tricks:

1. In order to help your indoor plants get ready for this lethargic period, cut back on the extent of water and the number of times of irrigation. It's extremely important that the top part of the soil i.e. 3 centimeter from the surface feels dry to your touch and always utilizes room temperature water for irrigation. Plant development is very slow throughout the colder time of year and an excess of water can trigger rotting of the roots. A few plants need almost no water throughout the colder time of year, such as cactus etc. Other plants that are succulent by nature may require no water at all until the coming spring.

2. In the colder time of year, the indoor air is incredibly dry and leaves may twist and change its colour to yellow or brown, if humidity and moistness levels are excessively low. Throughout this time of the year, houseplants gain a lot of comfort from a room humidifier, however in the event that you don't have one, you can place plants in your restroom or in the kitchen where moisture levels in general will be higher than the rest of the house. Similarly you can also use humidity trays for maintaining the humidity levels.

3. Houseplant care in winter may require moving plants to a spot with more light, for example, an alternate room or a window that gets an adequate amount of light. Turn the plant consistently so all sides of the same get equivalent daylight. In the event that you don't have a radiant window, you may need to install a light for the plant to grow well. Be certain plants are not kept near to heat vents, chimneys, gloomy windows etc.

4. Always wash your windows in the winter days to permit maximum amount of light to get past throughout the colder time of year. Leave the window shades open during the day time and wipe plant leaves with a delicate fabric so the leaves can ingest light more adequately.

5. Winter season calls for change in the manner in which you typically feed your plants. As there is no new development when the plant is entering its lethargic period. Cut back on the feed and retain on the manure side throughout the cold weather season. Resume taking care of your plants in the spring season.

6. Do not try growing or repotting any plant in the winter days. Winter isn't good times to upset the roots and development of plants.

7. Trimming the plant and eliminating dead or yellow coloured leaves in the winter can be beneficial for the plant. Try not to prune solid green leaves, as pruning will trigger new development that requires the plant to work when it's attempting to rest.
