PMMSY, which was launched in May 2020, is a flagship scheme for the country's fisheries sector's targeted and sustainable development, with an anticipated investment of Rs 20,050 crore for its implementation over a five-year period from 2020-21 to 2024-25.
"Under PMMSY, a total project investment of Rs 7,242.90 crore has been made to date (FY 2020-22)," according to an official statement.
The platform is a true measure of PMMSY's development, it stated, because data is fed into the MIS system at the district level by each participating state/union territory.
The information is also used for coordination, gap analysis, and the need to implement remedial actions.
The Department of Fisheries and PMC (project management consultant) team have been working on onboarding all states/UTs through hands-on training on the platform and creating awareness while also working on many oParshottam Rupalather technological development activities for MIS dashboard improvement, according to the statement.
The dashboard was recently unveiled by Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy, Parshottam Rupala, in light of the broad scope of PMMSY, according to the statement.
PMMSY has a Management Information System (MIS) dashboard in place for gathering information on a single platform.
The dashboard's goal is to keep track of PMMSY activities and progress across all participating states. It also aids in the strategic use of information for informed decision-making.
About PMMSY
The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) (http://pmmsy.dof.gov.in/) is a government of India initiative aimed at establishing a comprehensive framework and closing infrastructure shortages in the fisheries industry. The scheme was introduced by India's Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, when presenting the Union budget for 2019–20 to the Indian parliament on July 5, 2019. By implementing Neeli Kranti (Blue Revolution), the government hopes to propel India to the forefront of fish production and processing. This initiative aligns with the government's goal of doubling farmers' income by 2022–23.
