For Indian students pursuing graduate degrees, there are a number of government internship opportunities available.

Summers are ideal for learning new skills and gaining experience in your preferred fields. Internships are the finest opportunity for students in their graduation years to learn, experience, and gain skills. Here is a list of government internships available this summer for students to apply for.

NITI Aayog

NITI Aayog is the government of India's policy think tank. It allows undergraduate/postgraduate students and research scholars enrolled in recognized Indian and international universities/institutions to apply for the NITI Aayog Internship Scheme.

Although unpaid, this internship organization provides students with opportunities in a variety of fields, including agriculture, data management and analysis, economics, education, human resources development, energy sector, foreign trade/commerce, mining, tourism, sports, and youth development, and many others. The internship will last at least six weeks and up to six months. Those who do not complete their internships within the agreed time period will not obtain a certificate of experience.

To apply for these internships, students need to go to the official website niti.gov.in/internship. Every month, from the 1st to the 10th, the online application link is available.

Ministry of External Affairs

To commemorate 75 years of independence, the Ministry of External Affairs launched the first edition of the MEA Internships Program as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. Each intern would get a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 under this program.

At the time of application, interested candidates must be Indian citizens with a graduate degree from a recognized university at a minimum educational level. Internships will also be available to students in their last year of college when an internship is required as part of their final year program. These internships will have a maximum age limit of 25 years.

This year, a total of 75 internships will be available throughout a three-month period. The internship will last no less than one month and not more than three months. While the application period for this year's intake has ended, candidates should continue to check the official website — internship.mea.gov.in — for updates.

Department of Legal Affairs

The Department of Legal Affairs (DoLA) is offering internships in the hopes of providing them with more experience and knowledge in the areas of research and referencing, as well as providing legal advice in a variety of specialized fields of law such as constitutional and administrative law, finance law, infrastructure law, economic law, labour law, conveyancing, arbitration, and contract law, among others.

This internship is open to Indian students in their second and third year of a three-year degree course, as well as students in their third to the fifth year of a five-year degree course, or students who have finished their LLB course at any recognized college/law school/university. For this month-long internship, around 20 to 30 students will be chosen. Candidates should be aware that this is a full-time internship that must be physically attended, and interns are not permitted to take any other coursework or work during their internship.

On completion of their internship, the interns will get a diploma and a monetary honorarium of Rs 5000. To apply, students can go to the official website, legalaffairs.gov.in/internship. Except as otherwise noted, the internship will begin on the first working day of each month. The monthly internship will begin in June 2022 and end in May 2023.

National Museum of India

Students in graduate and undergraduate courses at any institution who want to do research on the collection, learn about museum procedures, and gain professional skills can apply for research-oriented internships with various departments at the National Museum. While the time for summer internships has passed, the deadline for winter interns is November 30, and each program will have 22 interns. Interested students may go to nationalmuseumindia.gov.in/en/national-museum-internship-programme on the official website.

DigiLocker

Internships are available at the Indian government's digital project, DigiLocker, for students from various professions. The intern is required to be flexible and deliver the specified task on time, according to the official guidelines. Internships are offered in both development and operations (for example, Product Management, UI UX Development, Front End Development, Database Management, Blockchain, and so on), although availability throughout each internship term is determined by company needs.

Security researcher/testing, content writer, front-end development, UI/UX, graphic designer, product management, blockchain, database management, and IOS development are all areas where internships are available.
