What is it about winters that we enjoy the most? One of the most prevalent responses is the variety of fruits and vegetables that the season offers. Our vegetable baskets are filled with a variety of colorful winter produce, ranging from fresh carrots and turnips to leafy greens.

Hara chana is a common winter vegetable (green chickpeas). It tastes great and has a variety of health benefits. It is also known as chholia. Hara chana looks and tastes precisely like kala chana, with a striking difference in color.

Why to add Green Chickpeas in Your Diet: Green chickpeas, much like chickpeas and kala chana, have a high nutritional profile. There are many "Green Winter vegetables," but one vegetable that is rarely mentioned is green chickpeas, also known as chholia or hare chaney, which are my personal favorite. Green chickpeas are a popular part of the family of legumes and when it comes to nutrition and health benefits that a portion of food can offer the human body, choliyas benefits are powerful and plentiful.

5 Dietician-Approved Green Chickpea Benefits:

Below we have mentioned some amazing benefits of green chickpeas;

Promotes Weight Loss

Green chickpeas are high in fiber. Eating meals with high fiber content helps you attain satiety faster (fullness post-meal).

Since fiber-rich meals take longer to chew and digest in the digestive tract, the satiating effect lasts longer. The satiating impact of green chickpeas' of the high fiber and protein content may help with weight management.

Rich Source Of Folate

Lentils are an excellent source of folate. Green chickpeas are high in vitamin B9, also known as folate, which may help improve mood and manage anxiety and depression.

Reduces Cancer Risk

Butyrate is a compound produced by healthy adults who consume chickpeas. Butyrate has been shown to suppress cell proliferation and cause apoptosis, potentially lowering the risk of colorectal cancer.

Supports Heart Health

Hara chana's high mineral content, particularly magnesium and potassium, promotes heart health and helps to prevent excessive blood pressure. It also contains sitosterol, a plant sterol that inhibits the body's absorption of cholesterol and so helps to lower blood cholesterol levels.

Enhance Hair Growth

While lack of protein can cause a variety of issues, including hair loss, hair thinning and hair breakage, consuming food items that are high in protein, such as green chickpeas, can stimulate hair growth and improve hair quality.

Considering the above factors, we suggest including green chickpeas in your daily diet for overall health benefit. Eat them fresh, dried, raw, steamed, or cooked, but be sure to include this delicious vegetable in your diet before it goes out of season.
