Chocolate over the years has been a positive symbol, a token of love and friendship. It is considered to be a perfect gift for your loved ones and kids drool upon it.

However, the false notion associated with chocolates has made people run away from it and keep themselves from having it. Not just chocolate but an excess of anything can turn out to be harmful.

One way to enjoy your chocolates without guilt is to stop making it a taboo. Labeling any food as forbidden only increases our cravings for it take Eve’s example of eating an apple if you don’t believe me!

Rather what you can do is set yourself some terms. Eat it mindfully and not cram it while binge-watching a series of your choice.

When is chocolate day?

7th July has been observed as International Chocolate Day since 2009 as it was this day in 1550 when chocolate was first brought to Europe. And what is a more perfect way to celebrate this global annual occasion than to treat oneself and others with a little of it.

The history of chocolate finds its roots in the Aztec period i.e. around 1400 BC. The sweet pulp of cacao fruit that surrounds the beans was then fermented into an alcoholic drink/beverage.

Benefits of Eating Chocolates

The right amount and type of chocolate could turn out to be more than just delicious it can be beneficial in more than one way. Here are some of the benefits of having chocolates.

  • Reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke.

  • Lowers the blood pressure (dark chocolate)

  • Helps in Uplifting your mood.

  • Enhances brain functioning.

  • Helps in weight loss.

  • Reduces the risk of diabetes.

  • Last but not the least it can always fulfill your cravings.

So what are you waiting for? Go grab a bar of chocolate, dark chocolate preferably as it is the highest in nutrients, and celebrate this rather sweet day!
