What is Dehydration?

Dehydration is a condition when our body faces a lack of water to function properly. This can happen due to several health reasons. Hence it is important to keep your body hydrated by drinking lots of liquids.

We all have heard that drinking more water is good for health. But, how many of us took it seriously?

If we can eat the whole day, why can’t we drink sufficient water to keep ourselves hydrated? This could be because we have a mindset that dehydration mainly occurs in summer and not in winter. And this is a wrong perception that needs to be changed. A person should drink at least 10 glasses of water on a daily basis.

It will not only keep you hydrated but it will give you more health benefits, including clear skin, better digestion, etc. This habit of drinking water on a regular basis won’t be showing any effects instantly. But after some time you will start seeing the miraculous results.

Through this article, you will get to know about the major consequences of dehydration, its symptoms, and its cure.

Causes of Dehydration:

Diarrhea & Vomiting

These health problems can be faced by anyone who drinks less water. A sudden change in health can make it worse due to a lack of water. During vomiting or diarrhea, your body starts losing water, which could be dangerous later on. Each year, 4 million children die all over the world due to dehydration.

High Fever

Your body needs water to function even when you are in a high fever.  In this situation, your body requires more fluid for proper functioning.

Excessive sweat

People sweat more in the gym while doing exercises as the body temperature increases. This can cause dehydration because of inadequate water in the body. Exercising is good for health but it is necessary to hydrate your body after the gym session.

Frequent Urination

People who are on the medications for diabetes and kidney cancer are at a higher risk of dehydration. These medicines increase the level of urine in the bladder. This is a condition where the body starts losing water due to excessive urination. Diabetes & kidney cancer may affect urine production which can cause dehydration.
