Do you also want to know a diet that can help you in maintaining healthy cholesterol levels in your body? Different foods help in lowering cholesterol in different ways. Some provide you with soluble fiber which bind with cholesterol and its precursors and removes them from the body before they get into the bloodstream.

On the other hand, some foods provide you with polyunsaturated fats, which are beneficial in lowering LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein), also known as bad cholesterol. High levels of LDL in the body cause the risk of heart diseases.

Best Foods That will Help you Control Cholesterol Level:

Let us take a look at some food items which are beneficial in lowering the LDL levels in the body.

Oats and whole grains- Including oats in your diet is the easiest way of providing your body with soluble fiber. Pairing oats with fruits such as bananas and strawberries to your regular bowl of oats adds even more soluble fibers to your diet. High soluble fiber is inversely proportional to LDL levels in the body. Whole grains also leave you with good amounts of soluble fiber, hence lowering the risk of heart diseases.

Nuts- According to research, including nuts in your diet can reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases by half. Nuts help in clearing up the arteries of accumulation of LDLs and triglycerides. They also improve the lining of the arteries. Nuts also reduce the risk of formation of blood clots, hence lowering the risk of a heart attack in individuals.

Fatty Fish- Including Fatty fish such as salmon, sardines, and herring in your diet can significantly lower the LDL levels in the body, hence lowering the risk of a heart attack. Omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA and EPA, which are found in fatty fish can effectively help in lowering the deposits of LDL and triglycerides in the bloodstream.

Olive Oil- Olive oil is enriched with antioxidants such as Vitamin E, which can effectively lower the LDL levels in the body. Extra virgin olive oil, which is less processed and has high amounts of antioxidants, works even better in reducing LDL levels in the body.
