COVID-19 or Coronavirus disease is an infectious disease. The most common symptom of this disease is common cough and cold along with respiratory illness, most people recover without any special treatment with some precautions and care. Old age people and those with underlying diseases or severe medical issues like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, or any other medical problem are more likely to develop serious illnesses due to COVID-19.

Coronavirus disease is slightly more communicable than the common flu. It is found that the virus can survive for three hours, floating through the air, it can be transmitted by the tiny respiratory droplets when an infected person exhales, sneezes, or coughs out.

Vitamin C has become the interest of research for researchers in this fight against corona disease. Large doses of intravenous vitamin C are being tried in COVID-19 critical patients on ventilators in China.

Also, vitamin C has a positive impact on many infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc. And a dose of 4-6g of vitamin C is absolutely safe and causes no side effects. It is especially useful for old age people and those with pre-existing conditions, to boost their immunity.

Foods Rich in Vitamin C

Guava, strawberries, lemon, orange, kiwi, papaya, broccoli, tomato, kale, bell peppers, parsley, lychee, mango, pineapple, potato, sweet potato, leafy greens are some foods that are rich in vitamin C.

Any Precaution?

A large dose of vitamin C has been used to improve immunity and promote wound healing. Normally the body can cope with this high dose by reducing the absorption and increasing the oxalate loss in urine. But in some people, the oxalate can get deposited in the kidneys resulting in kidney failure, it is most likely to happen with kidney disease patients or people with intestinal disorders. So moderate amounts of vitamin C is safe for them.

One most important thing to understand is that no supplement can work until and unless you maintain physical distance from others and also maintain proper hygiene practices.
