Godrej Agrovet Ltd (GAVL) has announced the release of Gracia, an insecticide that aids in the control of chewing and sucking pests in a wide range of pulse and vegetable crops. The company believes that the product will help it strengthen its position in the insecticide market.

About Gracia

Gracia (fluxametamide, an isoxazoline compound) is a broad-spectrum product discovered and developed by Nissan Chemical Corporation Japan and introduced to the market in collaboration with GAVL.

Godrej claims that Gracia controls chewing and sucking pests like larva, caterpillars, and thrips in farms growing a variety of pulses, hot peppers, cole crops, tomatoes, brinjal, and okra. According to the company, it also has an excellent safety profile when it comes to mammals and beneficial insects.

"As part of our overall commitment to doubling farmers' income, we have always implemented interventions tailored to Indian markets and farmers." "Gracia is the second product from Nissan Chemicals that we are introducing in the country after Hanabi," said Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director of Godrej Agrovet Ltd.

"The Indian crop protection market is estimated to be worth around 25,000 crore, with insecticides accounting for 39% of the total."With the launch of Gracia, we will strengthen our presence in this specific sub-segment, which is estimated to be a 1,500-crore market opportunity," Yadav said.

In 2019, GAVL launched Nissan's Hanabi, a miticide. "Gracia is a fast-acting, broad-spectrum insecticide that will help us maintain our leadership in the crop protection market," said Rakesh Dogra, CEO of GAVL's Crop Protection Business.

"We are confident that, like Hanabi, Gracia will find widespread adoption," said Raj Kumar Yadav, MD of Nissan Chemical Corporation (India).
