3rd National Seminar on Role of Agrochemicals for Sustainable Development: Important Highlights
The motive of the seminar was to provide farmers with the most up-to-date scientific information on the safe and sensible use of various inputs for sustainable agriculture. Krishi Jagran team also participated in the seminar.
Given the enormous untapped potential along the value chain, India's agricultural and related sectors have enormous potential for strong and sustained growth. It is critical to drastically minimize both pre-harvest and post-harvest losses in order to achieve high agricultural development.
During the pre-harvest stage, agrochemicals are one of the most important inputs for crop protection and increased yield.
Keeping this in mind a national seminar was organized on the Role of Agrochemicals for Sustainable Development in Chandigarh on 6th May 2022. The motive of the seminar was to provide farmers with the most up-to-date scientific information on the safe and sensible use of various inputs for sustainable agriculture. Krishi Jagran team also participated in the seminar.
During this conference, various crop protection and crop improvement options were explored, based on best worldwide practices and the most recent technology available.
Key Highlights of the seminar
J.P. Dalal, Hon'ble Minister for Agriculture, Government of Haryana, delivered the inaugural address. He said, "We are all here to discuss the role of Agrochemicals and how much chemicals and fertilizers should be used. All participants in this seminar are well-known in their respective fields. And will be sharing their views on the Role of Agrochemicals in Sustainable Development”.
The seminar consisted of thematic and technical sessions presented by several known personalities.
The research paper written by Auxilife Scientific Services (GPC) was published at the seminar, incorporating the perspective of farmers. This will greatly help correct the public perception of the industry.
Suresh Kumar Malhotra, Commissioner of Agriculture Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt of India, stated “Our production and productivity increased through this program. National policies have been favorable which is why the productivity has been elevated. We will not only talk about Agrochemicals but will look further.”
He further added, “The Indian Government has been considering Vision 2047 and a few discussions have already been done concerning the same. What kind of parameters must be considered if we want to become a global power? And what components should be examined and envisioned for agricultural growth once we have completed our 100-year anniversary of independence?”
A thematic presentation with all the details related to the topic was presented by Raju Kapoor, Director of Industry & Public Affairs, FMC India Pvt Ltd.
In addition, the technical session consisted of highlighting the role of Agrochemicals, Bio-stimulants and NUE technology, including the role of Drones and innovative solutions for Agricultural Residue Management.
Arti Ahuja, Secretary of the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, gave a special speech in light of the same. The event ended with a certificate distribution ceremony for the farmers who participated in the seminar.
