India currently supports nearly 17.84% of the world population, with 2.4% land resources and 4 % of water resources. It is also noted that about 15-25% potential crop production is lost due to pests, weeds and diseases.  Keeping pace with these growing numbers, the country will not only have to raise its agricultural production but also the productivity to ensure food and nutrition security of the nation.

This Seminar is being organized by Indian Chemical Council (which is the premier Chemical industry body in the country since 1938) jointly with the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Government of India.  The theme this time is “Empowering farmers for a prosperous India”

The aim of this Seminar is to empower farmers. With knowledge for safe/judicious usage of various inputs which include Crop Protection/Crop Enhancement chemicals- biochemicals/ Fertilizers as also usage of water in the best possible way for facilitating sustainable agriculture. Various Crop protection and crop enhancement solutions will be discussed during this conference with a focus to the perspective of farmers being the principal stakeholder who are the end-users of products from the industry:

Highlights of Seminar:

  • All major farmer bodies as also industry bodies are supporting it. Good participation of farmers is being facilitated This will be an opportunity to share with the farmer's community the very best that science has to offer incl the safe and precise pesticide application technologies thru drone usage.

  • The Seminar has shaped very well. J P Dalal, Minister for Agriculture, Government of Haryana is inaugurating, Arti Ahuja, Secretary Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals has consented to deliver a special address. Dr. S K Malhotra, Chairman, CIB RC, and Ast. DG, ICAR (Fmr. Agriculture and Horticulture Commissioner, GoI) will also address the gathering.

  • A Knowledge Paper prepared by Auxilife Scientific Services (GPC) which will also have farmers' perspectives will be released at the Seminar. This will go a long way in correcting the public perception of the industry.
