7th Pay Commission: Karnataka Announces Revised Salary of Government Employees, 8th Pay Commission on Cards?
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday announced the constitution of the 7th Pay Commission to revise the salary of state government employees.
According to a statement made on Wednesday by Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, the 7th Pay Commission will be constituted to assess the pay structure for state government employees.
Former chief secretary Sudhakar Rao has been selected as the chairman of the commission to evaluate the pay scale for state government employees, he said.
A joint action committee of several associations of government workers previously petitioned the government for the selection of a retired High Court judge as the chairperson of the 7th Pay Commission.
According to a March statement by Bommai, a commission would be constituted to adjust government employee salaries. The planned pay commission would cover the wage prospects of six lakh employees in the election-bound state.
Though nothing has been officially verified as of now, there is wide speculation that the Narendra Modi-led Central government plans to constitute the 8th Pay Commission for government employees very soon.
How 8th Pay Commission Will Benefit Central Govt Employees
-
Government employees' salaries could see a significant increase if the reports are accurate, and the government forms the 8th pay commission.
-
The government's minimum pay will rise from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000 if the employee union's demand is granted.
-
Additionally, the fitment factor could increase to 3.68 times.
According to the trends seen during the implementation of the 5th, 6th, and 7th Pay Commissions, it has been anticipated that the 8th Pay Commission will be established in 2023 and that its recommendations will be put into action in 2026.
The creation of the Pay Commission in 2023 would remain at the discretion of the then-central government, which would usually be concluding its term in early 2024, thus the trend could not certainly be confirmed.
