Agri Startups Beneficial for Farmers, Says University of Agricultural Sciences VC PL Patil

He specifically highlighted the rapid growth of agricultural startups in India. Patil expressed that these startups are introducing innovative products and services that directly benefit farmers, making a significant impact on the agricultural sector.
According to Patil, Indian farmers need to enhance their competitiveness and focus on producing for the international market to increase their income.
Startups play a crucial role in providing farmers with access to innovative technologies that can help them achieve these goals.
Patil also highlighted the increasing demand for Indian agricultural products, especially organic ones, in global markets. To capitalize on this opportunity, agricultural startups should develop products that enable farmers to earn better revenue and gain a wider market reach.
K Gopinath, the principal of SDM College of Engineering and Technology, stressed the potential of students to generate novel ideas and develop innovative products with the guidance of their teachers. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between agriculture and engineering students in creating practical and beneficial solutions.
The Ideathon workshop, inaugurated at UAS in Dharwad, provides a platform for students to present their new ideas, which can be further developed into commercially viable products. Nodal officers SS Dolli and PU Krishnaraj also shared their insights during the event.
This particular Ideathon workshop represents the third batch, with previous sessions resulting in the development of 12 prototypes, out of which four products have already been successfully commercialized.
