Agriculture Minister launches seed traceability mobile app for farmers

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, Panchayat Raj and Food Processing Industries Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Thursday launched a seed traceability mobile app on the occasion of dividend distribution by the National Seed Corporation. Through this app, information about real seeds will be available and farmers will be able to avoid fraud.

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, Panchayat Raj and Food Processing Industries Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Thursday launched a seed traceability mobile app on the occasion of dividend distribution by the National Seed Corporation (NSC). Through this app, information about real seeds will be available and farmers will be able to avoid fraud.

Tomar also inaugurated the quality control and DNA laboratory in NSC. On this occasion, Tomar said that seeds have great importance in the field of farming, in which case those working in the field of seeds have a significant responsibility.

In a function organized at the National Seed Corporation (NSC) headquarters in Pusa, the chairman cum managing director Vinod Kumar Gaur handed over a cheque of a dividend of Rs 8.98 crore to the minister.

Narender Singh Tomar also released the book on NSCs Journey in the Service of Farmers edited by Shankaran at the program. 

In this, book the major achievements since the establishment of NSC have been preserved. Tomar said that it is very pleasant to cherish the memory of the journey of both the person and the organization.

Seed traceability mobile app will prove to be milestone Tomar said. He also added that the NSC has a large area of ​​land, which should be used more and more. You can achieve success through the available schemes and move forward. NSC is providing quality seeds to farmers at low prices, this is a big job for the country, which should be taken forward. He suggested a roadmap for progress in this direction. Tomar said that the Seed Traceability Mobile App will prove to be a milestone.

In the program, Minister of State for Agriculture Parshottam Rupala said that agriculture starts with seeds. Farmers should ensure the availability of the high quantity of a variety of seeds at cheap prices. He suggested taking advantage of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana for NSC farms.

Farmers will benefit greatly from new lab and app Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Choudhary said that along with farmers and scientists, NSC also has a big contribution to the self-sufficiency of food grains. He said that farmers will benefit greatly from the new lab and app.

Initially, CMD described the activities and achievements of NSC. NSC has taken various steps to fulfil the government's objective of providing adequate quantity of quality seeds of all important crops of grains, pulses, oilseeds, fodder, vegetable seeds, etc. to the farmers of inaccessible and remote areas and to be a reliable supplier of quality seeds. It has established its reputation as the total income of NSC in the year 2019-20 is Rs 1085.44 crores and the profit before tax is Rs 60.88 crores.
