The Lt Governor noted that we may attain 12% growth in the agriculture sector if the Holistic Agriculture Development Plan is carefully implemented.

The Lt Governor stated during the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana extension at SKUAST Jammu that the scheme will offer complete coverage against crop losses caused by natural disasters and unseasonal rains.

"The scheme will stabilise farmers' incomes and motivate them to embrace cutting-edge practices with enough insurance protection against climatic calamity. I implore all farmers to take advantage of PM Fasal Bima Yojna's benefits" the Lt. Governor stated.

It is important to note that just four districts of farmers could previously use PMFBY, which was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to protect diligent farmers from the whims of nature.

The Lt Governor stated that the implementation of PMFBY throughout the UT will complement the efforts of the UT Administration in fostering a progressive environment while also having a good influence on the agricultural situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

It shall be made sure that all pertinent information is properly disseminated and that PMFBY is implemented transparently. The Lt. Governor noted that a mobile app for crop insurance and the insurance company's toll-free number will make it easier for farmers to report losses.

Agricultural reforms introduced in the J&K UT in the past 30 months were also highlighted by the Lt Governor.

“Our first goal is the well-being of the farmers.” According to the Lt. Governor, the UT Administration has made significant decisions in the agricultural, horticultural, and related sectors to help build the vision of inclusive growth.

"I have faith that Jammu and Kashmir's successful future would be guided by the agricultural and related sectors. The innovative 29 projects, totalling Rs. 5013 crores, are for the holistic development of agricultural and related industries. They will offer an integrated response to all challenges relating to agriculture and related industries with a method to cut down on waste and boost output "he added.

The Lt Governor noted that we may attain 12% growth in the agriculture sector if the Holistic Agriculture Development Plan is carefully implemented.

Agriculture reforms are being attempted on such a massive scale for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir. “We are working to create a lot of jobs in the agricultural sector, and assure the financial security of farmers, particularly small and marginal farmers, and make it easier to start new agribusiness firms” he mentioned.
