The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced that the first-term board examinations for classes 10th and 12th will be held offline in November and December. The date sheet for the same will be announced on October 18th.

The board published a circular stating that the examinations will be of the objective kind. The 90-minute term 1 exam will use multiple-choice optical mark recognition (MCQ-OMR) question sheets, whereas the term 2 exam will be a conventional written examination.

Because of the winter season, the examinations will begin at 11.30 a.m. rather than 10.30 a.m.

"Following the completion of the term-1 examinations, the results in the form of marks earned will be announced. After the first term, no student will be placed in the pass, compartment, or essential repeat categories. The final results would be published following the first and second-term examinations" Sanyam Bhardwaj, CBSE examination controller, stated.

"Practical examinations or internal assessments will be performed in schools prior to the end of the first-term exams. The marks given shall be 50% of the total marks, as specified in the syllabus. The complete strategy will be communicated to the schools individually so that they may make the required preparations” he said.

CBSE announced its decision to have two board exams this time in July of this year. The board has just released a revised syllabus for term one.

CBSE has created a road map for the evaluation procedure months ahead of time. The board said in the evaluation scheme that a student's final score would be computed based on his or her performance in both terms. According to the new scheme, term 1 will be an objective assessment, whereas term 2 would be subjective with practical components.

Aside from the two terms, the students will have to pass internal examinations, evaluations and projects.

Bhardwaj went on to say that the second-term examination will be held in March-April 2022, and that whether it would be objective or subjective in nature would be determined by the country's Covid-19 condition.
