EPFO Ex-gratia Amount Increased to Rs 8 Lakh

EPFO Latest News: The EPFO recently issued a circular requesting that the ex-gratia amount be increased from Rs 4.2 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. According to the circular, an ex-gratia payment of Rs 8 lakh will be made from the Central Board's welfare fund to the family members (nominee or legal heirs) of the deceased employee. Corona illness was not the cause of death.

EPFO members should be aware that the instructions will take effect immediately and will apply to cases where the date of death occurs after the date of the circular. EPFO's new decision is likely to benefit around 30,000 employees across the country. The institute has also issued a circular informing its employees of this decision.

It's worth mentioning that EPFO's official Twitter handle recently tweeted about e-nomination. "Why should one register an e-nomination?" the tweet asked. EPFO members must now complete a few simple procedures in order to file an e-nomination.
