Farmers & Fishermen Alert! IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall in These States from 25-27 November

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from November 25-27, and over south Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on November 27.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rain in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from November 25-27, as well as in south Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on November 27. 

According to the IMD report, "A cyclonic circulation extends up to mid tropospheric levels across the central sections of the South Bay of Bengal. A Low Pressure Area is expected to form over the southwest Bay of Bengal over the next 24 hours as a result of its effect. It is expected to travel west-northwest towards Sri Lanka and the south Tamil Nadu coast." 

The following is the projected impact on Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema: 

  • Localized flooding of highways, inundation and water logging in low-lying regions, and closure of underpasses, mostly in the above-mentioned region's urban areas.

  • Occasional loss of visibility owing to heavy rain.

  • Traffic disruption in major cities as a result of water logging in roads, resulting in longer travel times.

  • Kutcha roads suffered little damage.

  • Damage to a susceptible structure is a possibility.

  • Mudslides/Landslides in Specific Areas

  • Inundation has caused damage to horticulture and standing crops in several locations.

Here are some more IMD warnings and forecasts: 

  • Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, South Interior Karnataka, KeralaMahe, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal may get light to moderate widespread rainfall during the next 5 days. 

  • Isolated heavy rain is expected throughout Tamil Nadu, Puducherryand Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe during the next 5 days, as well as South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and  

  • Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also expected across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry,and Karaikal from November 25-27, as well as over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema on November 27th, 2021. 

  • On 26th and 27th of November, 2021, squally winds (speeds reaching 40-50 kmph with gusts up to 60 kmph) are expected across the Southwest and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal, along and off the Tamil Nadu-South Andhra Pradesh coastlines, and the Gulf of Mannar. Fishermen are cautioned not to go out into the sea.

  • Minimum temperatures are expected to dip by 2-4°C in most areas of East, West, and Central India, and to increase by 2-3°Cin most portions of Northwest India over the next 3-4 days.
