FSSAI Awarded ‘Eat Right Station’ Certification to Varanasi Cantt Railway Station
The Varanasi Cantt Railway Station of Indian Railways has received a 5-star 'Eat Right Station' certification for providing high-quality, nutritious food to passengers.
The FSSAI confers the 'Eat Right Station' certification on railway stations that set standards for providing safe and nutritious food to passengers while also adhering to standard food storage and hygiene practices.
Following the completion of an FSSAI-appointed third-party audit with ratings ranging from 1 to 5, the station is awarded a certificate. The 5-star rating indicates that the station is fully compliant in providing safe and sanitary food to passengers.
The certification is part of the FSSAI's larger 'Eat Right India' initiative, which aims to transform the country's food system to ensure safe, healthy, and sustainable food for all Indians.
Eat Right India employs a strategic mix of regulatory, capacity-building, collaborative, and empowerment approaches to ensure that our food is good for both people and the environment.
Anand Vihar Terminal Railway Station (Delhi); Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (Mumbai); Mumbai Central Railway Station (Mumbai); Vadodara Railway Station, Chandigarh Railway Station, and Bhopal Railway Station are among the other railway stations with Star certification.
So far, 34 'Eat Right' certified stations in India have been established, including Bhopal and Varanasi Cantt. This railway station has been awarded this distinction for providing high-quality, nutritious food to passengers while adhering to hygiene standards.
The food ecosystem at railway stations, according to FSSI, is often large and diverse. It consists of catering/retail outlets, retail outlets, food plazas, and mobile food vendors on railway platforms.
