Good News for Farmers! Monsoon Will Be Back in Central & North-Western India This Week
The weather department said strong southerly winds from Bay of Bengal to northeast India will continue to prevail till August 18
India Meteorological Department said a strong south-wind in the Bay of Bengal to the northeast of India would continue until August 18.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the monsoon appears to begin in some parts of central, eastern and northwestern India after a long dry period of almost two weeks.
It is said that a low pressure area is lying over coastal Odisha and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal. According to the IMD, the relevant cyclonic cycle is likely to move northwesterly across the interior of Orissa, Chhattisgarh and northern eastern Madhya Pradesh over the next 48 hours.
The western end of the monsoon trough is to the north of its normal position; the eastern end is to the south of its normal position and passes through the centre of low pressure area over coastal Odisha to east central Bay of Bengal.
The weather department has said that the western end of monsoon is about to shift slowly southwards towards its near normal position in the next 2 days.
Strong winds from Bay of Bengal to northeast India would continue to prevail till 18th of August.
These weather conditions could intensify rainfall activity in Central India and the neighboring northern peninsula over the next three days. Until August 19, Marathwada, Telangana, Odisha, Vidarbha and central Maharashtra can see widespread rain activities, accompanied by isolated heavy rains to very heavy rains.
According to the weather forecast, heavy rain in West Bengal, Ganges, Jharkhand, Kankan, Goa and Gujarat may also continue until August 20. From 19 to 23 August, extensive rainfall activity with separate heavy rains may occur in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi on 20 and 21 August.
Moderate to severe thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected in isolated areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh over the next 24 hours.
