Isudan Gadhvi, a former TV host and journalist, was nominated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday as its candidate for the chief minister post in the upcoming Gujarat assembly elections.

The candidate was named on the basis of an opinion submitted to the Aam Aadmi Party by the people of the state. Besides Gadhvi, Party’s General Secretary Manoj Soratihya and State Unit President Gopal Italia were also in the race for the top post.

CM Kejriwal told media that 40-year-old Gadhvi received as many as 73% of votes in a survey conducted by the party. He further said that the party conducted the survey by asking people to dial a particular number, listen to a recorded message and then select their chief ministerial candidate.

Gadhvi hails from a farmers’ family

It is worth mentioning that Gadhvi hails from a farmers’ family in Dwarka district and belongs to the other backward castes, which account for 48% of the state’s population.

Gadhvi is a popular TV journalist & editor of VTV News and has worked as an anchor of a famous show Mahamanthan at VTV Gujarati.
