ICAR-CARI Announces Entrepreneurship Development Programme in Poultry Farming

The Central Avian Research Institute (ICAR-CARI) is set to host an Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) from May 13 to 17, 2024, targeting individuals interested in venturing into the dynamic poultry farming sector. This unique program will be offered in a hybrid mode, combining online and offline elements to accommodate diverse participants.

Details of the Program by ICAR-CARI 

The poultry industry in India has been experiencing robust growth, expanding at a rate of 7.5% annually. In the fiscal year 2021-22, the sector achieved a significant milestone with a production of 4.78 million metric tons (MMT) of poultry meat and a staggering 129.6 billion eggs (BAHS 2022 report).

The EDP registration fee is set at Rs. 1500/- for online participation and Rs. 2500/- for offline attendance. Interested candidates are required to remit the fee before filling out the mandatory registration form through the institute's designated payment gateway (ICAR-CARI Payment Gateway). The deadline for registration is May 10, 2024.

Focus and Objectives

The Entrepreneurship Development Program is meticulously designed to equip aspiring poultry entrepreneurs with comprehensive knowledge and skills essential for success in diversified poultry farming. The curriculum encompasses various aspects of the poultry industry, from traditional broilers and layers to lesser-known species like Desi fowl, Japanese Quails, Turkeys, and Guinea fowl.

The program aims to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Skill Development: Participants will gain insights into modern poultry production and management techniques, staying abreast of the latest developments in poultry meat and egg production within the country.

  2. Entrepreneurship Enablement: The program will guide participants in establishing poultry production and allied units, emphasizing statutory obligations, marketing strategies, insurance, and poultry business models.

  3. Diversified Farming Exposure: Attendees will be exposed to diversified farming practices, including feed formulation methods, poultry meat and egg processing technologies, and organic farming.

  4. Project Financing: Financing poultry projects will be explored, including detailed project report formulation and exposure to various government financing schemes supporting the poultry sector.
