IMD Alert! Northwest India To Receive Light Rainfall & Snowfall From 2 to 4 February

Northwest India is expected to witness widespread light/moderate rainfall/snowfall from February 2 to 4 as a result of an active Western Disturbance and its induced cyclonic circulation. On February 2 and 3, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted scattered hailstorms over Himachal Pradesh.
On Thursday, scattered light rain is expected across Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.
Rainfall is expected to fall over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on February 3 and 4, with its peak intensity on Friday.
On February 3 and 4, Uttarakhand is expected to receive isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall.
Cold weather is expected to linger across north Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana for the next two days and abate thereafter.
On Wednesday and Thursday, fog is expected in isolated areas across Uttar Pradesh. Foggy conditions are also expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and north Rajasthan.
Meanwhile, on February 1, heavy moisture from the Bay of Bengal is expected to cause scattered rainfall with isolated hailstorms over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and northeast Assam (Wednesday).
According to the weather forecast, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha will receive widespread light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorms/lightning on Thursday and Friday.
On February 4 and 5, Northeast India is likely to experience widespread light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorms/lightning. On Friday, Arunachal Pradesh is expected to see severe rain/snowfall.
Isolated heavy rainfall is expected across Bihar, West Bengal, and Sikkim on February 4, according to the IMD advisory.

Many homeless people shifted to night shelters on Tuesday night as the night temperature fell to 7 degrees Celsius in the national capital and fog engulfed the city.
At around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported 11.8 degrees Celsius in New Delhi.
Furthermore, the Safdarjung center in the national capital reported a minimum temperature of seven degrees, which was two degrees less last night.
The weather department in its weekly forecast predicted that barring Thursday, the minimum temperature is likely to remain in a single-digit throughout the week in the national capital.
