IMD Issues Light Rainfall Warning for Delhi on March 9-10; Hailstorm, Snowfall in J&K, HP, Ladakh
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, snowfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh during March 7 to 9. Meanwhile, Delhi is likely to witness cloudy skies and light rainfall on March 9 and 10 under the influence of the Western Disturbance.
Thunderstorms are expected in several parts of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra during the next two days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). IMD has also issued a "yellow" alert.
The wind confluence and a trough in easterlies stretch from the southeast Arabian Sea off Kerala coast to the Konkan coast at lower tropospheric levels, according to the National Weather Forecasting Centre (NWFC).
"Under the influence of these weather systems, isolated light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds are very likely to continue over Maharashtra, Gujarat, east Rajasthan, and west Madhya Pradesh during March 8-10," the statement added.
"Isolated hailstorm (is) very likely across north-central Maharashtra on March 8 and 9 and adjoining Marathwada on March 9," the IMD stated.
Over the next two days, the Mumbai-based Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) predicts thunderstorm activity, lightning, moderate rain, and gusty storms in Palghar, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri.
Over the next two days, Mumbai might get mild rain and thunderstorms, according to the RMC.
For the unversed, the IMD issues four color-coded warnings - green, yellow, orange, and red - based on the intensity of any weather condition.
Delhi: IMD predicts a rise in maximum temperature over next six days:
The maximum temperature in the national capital is expected to climb during the next six days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to IMD, the temperature would be at 32 degrees Celsius on March 13 and will increase to 34 degrees Celsius on March 14.
