IMD Issues Orange Alert! Heavy Rainfall, Lightening & Storms Expected in Several States till September 6

IMD's rainfall forecast indicates that very heavy rain is predicted to fall over Arunachal Pradesh on September 2 and 3. On September 3, Assam and Meghalaya would also experience the same.

During the next five days, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, and South Interior Karnataka are expected to see isolated heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) has predicted isolated heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya over the next five days as the monsoon retreats.

From September 2 to September 4, similar conditions will also be present in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

The IMD has issued orange alert for the following states:

04 September: Uttarakhand.

2-4 September: Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim.

03 September: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.

02 September: Tamil Nadu, South Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep.

Heavy Rainfall & Thunderstorm Predictions

IMD's rainfall forecast indicates that very heavy rain is predicted to fall over Arunachal Pradesh on September 2 and 3. On September 3, Assam and Meghalaya would also experience the same.

Isolated heavy falls are very likely over West Madhya Pradesh on September 2, over Chhattisgarh on September 6, over Bihar from September 2 to September 4, over Jharkhand from September 2 to 3, over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from September 2 to September 5, and over Odisha from September 5 to 6.

Over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, isolated very heavy rainfall is expected between September 2 and September 4.

Isolated heavy rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning are extremely possible over coastal Karnataka on September 2, 5, and 6, over north interior Karnataka on September 5, and over Rayalaseema on September 6, as well as over Lakshadweep on September 2, 3, and 5.

During the next five days, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, and South Interior Karnataka are expected to see isolated heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

A few isolated areas of very heavy rainfall are also expected to occur on September 2 in Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe.

On September 4, moderate rain with a few isolated heavy rainfalls, as well as thunderstorms and lightning, are forecast over Jammu & Kashmir.
