IMD issues 'Red Alert,' Predicting Extremely Heavy Rainfall in These States till 11th Nov

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Red Alert' in its latest weather prediction, stating that the extremely heavy rain would continue across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the next few days, most likely till November 11.
"It is anticipated to be heavy to extremely heavy in isolated locations across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on the 8th and 9th of November," the Met stated in its forecast. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected across Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema on November 7th, with a reduction commencing on November 8th."
The meteorological department has forecast a new round of heavy and very heavy rains, including isolated very severe rainfall in regions of Tamil Nadu and south coastal Andhra Pradesh till November 11.
Authorities have been asked to take the appropriate precautions and preparations.
The IMD also stated in its forecast that a cyclonic circulation lingers over the southeast Bay of Bengal and abutting the equatorial Indian Ocean off the coast of Sumatra. According to the meteorological department, it currently extends up to 4.5 kms above mean sea level.
According to the IMD's official statement, "under its influence, a low-pressure region is predicted to emerge over Southeast Bay of Bengal and neighboring areas around November 9th." During the next 48 hours, it is expected to become more noticeable and travel west-northwestward towards the north Tamil Nadu coast."
Extremely heavy rains have caused damage in Chennai, prompting the municipal government to issue a flood warning. Schools and government offices in Chennai have been closed, and rescue operations are underway around the city.
