IMD Issues Yellow Alert in Delhi & Other States; Heavy Rainfall, Thunderstorm Expected in Coming Days

Kerala may see heavy rain for the next five days, according to an advisory sent on Sunday by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). In 11 of the state's districts, with the exception of Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, and Kollam, a yellow warning has been issued.

Kerala is likely to get heavy to extremely heavy rains on Monday (7–11 cm). According to a statement from the IMD, thunderstorms with lightning are also predicted to occur during heavy rain.

With forecasts of moderate to heavy rainfall, the IMD on Sunday issued a "yellow" warning for Delhi for 48 hours and an "orange" alert for Wednesday. When there is a yellow alert, isolated, scattered rain between 7.5 and 15 mm is expected and is most likely to last for a few hours.

The national capital saw light rain in certain areas on Sunday, and the city's high temperature, which was a few degrees below average at 35.7 degrees Celsius, was reported by the IMD. It said the minimum temperature, which was 26.2 degrees Celsius, was two notches below average.

• According to the IMD, Delhi's maximum and lowest temperatures are predicted to be 36 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively.

• Many locations in Rajasthan are expected to get mild to moderate rain on Monday, according to the Met department. As per a department official, up till 5.30 pm on Sunday, Chittorgarh reported 44 mm of rainfall, Bhilwara 31 mm, Bikaner 14.8 mm, Churu 11.8 mm, Jaipur and Sikar 9 mm each, Ajmer 7 mm, and Baran 5 mm.

• According to the Met department's daily weather forecast, which was issued on Sunday, there may be occasional heavy to very heavy rainfall across the Konkan areas and Goa from July 4 to 7, along with coastal Karnataka on July 4 and 5, Gujarat, and central Maharashtra from July 5 to 7.

• A cyclonic circulation lies over south Jharkhand and neighborhood extending upto upper tropospheric levels. The IMD predicted that under its influence, a low-pressure area will likely develop over the same area over the day and night.
