IMD Predicts Heavy Rain & Dense Fog in These States Till 13 January; Full Forecast Inside

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted enhanced rainfall and thunderstorm over east and adjoining central India till 14 January. It also predicted dense tovery dense fog over parts of northwest India during next 4-5 days.

Heavy Rain & Dense Fog in India

Weather News: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted significant rainfall and thunderstorms throughout eastern and adjoining central India until January 14th. It also forecast thick to very dense fog across regions of northwest India for the next 4-5 days. 

According to the meteorological service, a confluence of winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal at lower tropospheric levels is very likely throughout east and central India during the next 4-5 days. 

Light to moderate rainfall and snowfall are very likely across the western Himalayan area on 11th and dry weather for subsequent 4-5 days. 

According to the latest bulletin issued earlier in the day, the weather office said light to moderate rainfall are very likely over Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh during 11th to 14th January. 

In the east, heavy rainfall is expected in south Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, and in Odisha on the 11th and 13th. Telangana is also expected to experience heavy rain from the 11th to13th of January. 

Thunderstorms with lightning are expected over Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Gangetic West Bengal on January 11th; Odisha on January 11th and 13th; and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on January 12th. 

In addition, the weather department predicts dense fog in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh during the next 4-5 days, as well as across north Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh over the next two days. 

Cold Wave Over North India This Week 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on Tuesday that cold wave conditions are anticipated to resume over the plains of northwest and parts of north India later this week. 

According to IMD officials, cold day conditions will persist across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, western Uttar Pradesh, north Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat till Thursday. 

"Minimum temperatures throughout the plains of northwest India will fall by 2 to 3 degrees and remain so thereafter. Isolated pockets of cold weather are expected over Punjab, north Rajasthan, Haryana, and Chandigarh between January 12 and 15," according to the Met department's weather bulletin. 

There are two active cyclonic circulations at the moment, one over the southwest Bay of Bengal and one over the north Konkan. These systems, as well as a convergence of moist winds from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, will continue to affect parts of central and eastern India till Friday.
